POSTPONED: Mental Wellness and Happiness: Understanding Joy and Purpose Through Brain/Mental Health Science and Cultural/Societal/Faith Perspectives with Terri Mabrito

In this discussion we will explore how purposeful self-care, self-compassion and selflessness lead to holistic health and happiness.

Terri Mabrito has over 30 years of experience in programming and services for children and families, working in a variety of faith based, educational and social services settings in San Antonio. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Voice Performance from Trinity University, a Masters in Counseling from St. Mary’s University and a post-graduate certificate in Children’s Mental Health/System of Care from the University of South Florida. One of her favorite projects was working with mental health providers and other mental health system experts, local and school-based police, and NAMI San Antonio to implement the Children’s Crisis Intervention Training for school-based law enforcement. Terri has been recognized for her advocacy work in child abuse prevention and children’s mental health. She is particularly proud of recent work on teen suicide prevention with the Alamo Area Teen Suicide Prevention Coalition to implement a Teen Advisory Board. This board brings peer-led messages of hope to teens and families across the community through their B141 Campaign. Terri accepted the Executive Director position at NAMI San Antonio in the spring of 2018 and looks forward to continuing her advocacy work with many wonderful expert partners and the NAMI “family.”
