In this discussion we will learn about the multi-faith effort to build infrastructure for mental health well-being.
Doug Beach is an advocate for better mental health care in our community. He is the Board President of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) San Antonio. He is a NAMI Family-to-Family instructor and leads a faith-based Family Support Group. Doug serves as the national chairperson of NAMI FaithNet, NAMI’s outreach to faith communities at the 650 affiliates throughout the U.S. He is also Chairperson and founder of PATHWAYS TO HOPE, a community-wide conference on mental health and faith. Doug serves as board member of Pathways-to-Promise, a nation-wide organization that supports the development of mental health ministries. He is the Chairperson of the Community Advisory Committee of the Bexar County Center for Health Care Services. He also chairs the Texas HHS/Behavioral Health Advisory Committee. Doug works with churches throughout San Antonio to help begin mental health ministries. He is currently working with the City of San Antonio/Faith-Based Initiative to launch the Bridges to Care San Antonio program.
