Vance Blackfox on Indigenous Traditions--Crises and Suffering: Perspectives from World Religions

Join us for a Series entitled, Crisis and Suffering: Perspectives from World Religions. Every Wednesday evening, from 7:30-8:30 we will explore the insights offered from different traditions on the themes of loss, suffering, and resilience.

Vance Blackfox, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, is the Director of Communications for the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition.  He is an alumnus of Texas Lutheran University, as well as the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago where he is the creator and producer of the annual Vine Deloria Jr Theological Symposium.  Here in San Antonio, Vance is the Guest Curator of the Indian Museum at the Institute of Texan Cultures; in partnership with San Antonio’s District 10 office he coordinates the city’s annual Native American Heritage Month celebration; he is a board member of SACRD.org, the San Antonio Community Resource Directory; and finally, Vance serves as the Indigenous Theologian for the Faith-Based Initiative and leads the Initiative’s Religious Discrimination and Diversity Team.
